Beyond the Home Inspection

When you’re buying a new home, you want to do your due diligence to know everything you can about a property before the final purchase. You’ve likely scheduled your residential inspection, which is an important part of the process. But have you considered the value of some of the specialty inspections outside a traditional home inspection? If not, our team at Burgess Inspections, Inc. encourages you to consider some of these add-on inspections.

Mold Inspection

Upon an initial viewing, mold isn't easy to detect. Sometimes, it hides in areas of the home, and you don't realize it's there until you've already moved in. Mold can cause significant health issues and damage to your property. It's best to look for mold prior to moving in so you can either negotiate mold remediation with the seller or find another property. We recommend mold testing to homebuyers, especially if the property is in a flood zone or you suspect water damage.

Pool & Spa Inspection

You've dreamt about owning a home with a swimming pool for years. However, before you make the home purchase, be sure to get a pool inspection. We'd hate for you to move in, ready to enjoy your pool during the hot Virginia summer, only to discover its filter system is broken or other damages you weren't counting on. Pool maintenance requires enough time and money on its own without having to take care of disrepair.

Radon Testing

A radon inspection isn't on many home buyers' radars, but it can be important for your health. Radon is a virtually undetectable gas that can leak into buildings through soil, rocks, or water around the home. This gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, so it's important to know whether it's present in the home you're buying. Then, you can decide whether to find a different property or find a radon remediation specialist.

These aren't the only specialty inspections we offer at Burgess Inspections, but they are three of the most important for your personal and financial health. To find out more about these inspection services or to schedule your inspection, contact Burgess Inspections at (804) 794-1423. We provide professional, fully insured home inspection services to the Virginia areas of Henrico County and Chesterfield County.
